Dear colleagues,
I write to share the sad news that Greg S. Hancock, Professor Emeritus of Geology, passed away on January 16. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Stafford, CSX Professor of Economics & Public Policy at William & Mary.
Prof. Hancock joined the faculty at W&M in 1998 and served until his retirement in 2021. His scholarly work focused on geomorphology, hydrology, landscape evolution, and human influence on the landscape. An energetic and deeply committed educator and researcher, Prof. Hancock’s love for the earth and for his students was evident in his work and in the many who cherish his memory.
