The following message was sent to the campus community on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025 – Ed.

Dear William & Mary community,

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for Williamsburg and the I-64 corridor. The forecast includes a prediction of up to four inches of snow today and the potential for icy conditions overnight and into Tuesday morning.

For the campus community’s safety, William & Mary will close today, Monday, Dec. 8, at noon and reopen at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 9. This means that Exam Blocks 2 & 3 today (Dec. 8) and Exam Block 1 Tuesday (Dec. 9) will be rescheduled. The Provost Office is rescheduling the impacted exam blocks and will send a follow up message shortly with the revised schedule.

Essential employees should consult with their supervisors and may be required to report to campus. For all other employees, the campus is closed. Non-essential employees should not be on campus and telework is not required during the closure period.

  • All university events are canceled.
  • During the closure period, University Libraries will be closed.
  • Students can access dining hall schedules at https://www.dining.wm.edu
  • Mobility services will not be in operation during the closure period. Anyone with mobility needs during this time should contact William & Mary Police at 757.221.4596.
  • As a reminder, if you have concerns about getting to campus safely on Tuesday, please contact your supervisor regarding telework or the use of liberal leave.

Facilities Management is already treating pathways on campus, and VDOT has pretreated many roads across our area. Stay safe and take necessary precautions during this inclement weather.

The Emergency Management Team will continue to monitor the weather forecast.
