Chief Business Officer Sean Hughes sent the following message to students on Oct. 20, 2026. – Ed.

Good morning,

I am writing to confirm that West Woods Dining will open on Friday, January 22, 2027 at 5:00pm, with dinner as the first meal served. This meal period aligns with the start of Spring 2027 meal plans – as soon as you can use your meal plan, you may do so at West Woods Dining. Additional details on the opening, menus, and other news will come through W&M Dining newsletters and social channels throughout the remainder of the Fall semester.

I also want to follow up on wait times in the Sadler Food Hall. Reducing them has been a priority since the start of the semester, and the results are positive. Waits at each venue have fallen by more than half, and today average 15-30 minutes.

Peak periods, especially weekday lunch, continue to have longer wait times. We continue to address the waits through ongoing operational improvements, including the new express lane at Halal Shack, and W&M Dining newsletters will include future updates as this work continues.

As a reminder, the following venues will be in operation this spring:

  • West Woods Dining (all-you-care-to-eat)
  • Marketplace at Campus Center (all-you-care-to-eat)
  • Morning Musings in Sadler (all-you-care-to-eat grab & go breakfast)
  • Sadler Food Hall (in its current format as a retail food hall)
  • and the retail locations across campus that are open today.

During the spring, W&M Dining will continue to regularly evaluate operations, usage, and dining data for each venue as we plan for Fall 2027. Any changes for the Fall will be grounded in that data, and students will have continued opportunities to provide input on dining between now and then.

Thank you for the feedback you’ve shared this semester through so many channels. Much of it has shaped the work above, the solutions in place, and has fostered productive dialogue on the future of dining at William & Mary.

Thank you,
Sean
