EMT sent the following message to the campus community Feb. 19, 2024 – Ed.

The university will conduct a test of its emergency notification system Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 12:15 p.m., including the new PA function of the siren system.

The university sends its emergency communications through RAVE which provides the flexibility to communicate via email and text (“TribeAlert”) and, for the most urgent situations, through the emergency sirens on campus and Alertus on your computer.

Any time you hear the emergency sirens outside of a test you should check immediately for information and instructions at www.wm.edu

If you have not yet enrolled in the system, you may do so through this contact form in Banner.

More to Know

  • RAVE. This system is used in cases of a campus-wide emergency, instances of natural disaster, or for inclement weather closings.
    • The system uses multiple channels to create redundancy with the aim of ensuring that each member of the community is reached through at least one channel. They are all not intended to reach everyone simultaneously.
    • To ensure you receive these alert messages, your personal mobile number should be t listed first in the emergency alerts section of your Banner profile.
    • William & Mary tests this system at the beginning of each of the fall and spring semesters as well as once over the summer including its nine – speaker siren system.
  • New. All RAVE test and active messages will come from the following email: wm@email.getrave.com  Add this address to your contacts to ensure delivery.
  • Ways to Stay Connected. You may also follow emergency news through the William & Mary News Facebook and “X” (formerly known as Twitter) pages as well as the free W&M mobile app
  • All members of the William & Mary community should annually review the information they have submitted for emergency notifications in Banner. To ensure that you receive these alert messages, your personal mobile number should be the first number listed in Banner
