I, along with my team, continue to work closely with national Sodexo leadership and the local team managing the William & Mary account. Over the course of the semester the university has made it clear to Sodexo we have high standards for all aspects of the campus dining program.
Last week, following a meeting with university leadership, Sodexo publicly shared key components of a short- and long-term action plan [pdf] to address concerns from students and parents, including the addition of a quality control manager. I am writing to make sure all meal-plan holders are aware of this plan and the steps being taken.
Despite recent improvements, we’ve continued to see lapses in Sodexo’s service. Given those concerns, I have accelerated the university’s efforts to bring in an independent national consultant immediately to help us revamp our dining program.
Our dining program contributes in important ways to our student’s health and well-being. W&M is committed to ensuring a quality program for our students going forward and holding all of our vendors accountable for delivering on that commitment.
