The following message was sent to the campus community on April 3, 2026. – Ed.

Dear William & Mary Students, Faculty & Staff,

We are thrilled to announce that William & Mary intends to award the next Course Materials and Retail contract to eCampus and Rally House, to begin effective July 1. You can read more at William & Mary News.

Over the next few months, Auxiliary Services will work with both companies to transition operations from Barnes & Noble, including the storefront location and online marketplace. As part of this change, the Spirit Shop & Bookstore will undergo a re-brand to refresh the store’s look and expand campus offerings.  Look for more information from us on any proposed renovations and refreshes as we approach the start of summer 2026.

While the transition should not impact course materials for students taking summer courses, the retail storefront may briefly close for facility updates in the immediate leadup to July 1. You can continue to shop online at bookstore.wm.edu for all your spirit wear needs.

We are grateful for the wide variety of campus stakeholders who gave input ahead of this process. Special thanks go out to the Bookstore RFP selection committee, Provost’s Office, W&M Libraries, and W&M Supply Chain Services for their tireless review of vendor proposals to select the partner that would best fit the needs of our campus. We also extend a deep thank you to Feleasha Sherfy in W&M Procurement for her leadership throughout this process. We look forward to a thriving, community-focused partnership in the years to come.

Thank You,

Sean Hughes, Chief Business Officer

William Mathews, AVP of Auxiliary Services
