Dear W&M Community,
With sadness I notify you that Traci Ayers, Events Assistant in the W&M School of Education, passed away on February 16, 2023, at age 50.
Traci began working at the W&M School of Education in September 2022. Jim Barber, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs, said that Traci was a delight to work with. “Her organization, optimism, and welcoming smile were her trademarks. She brought joy to each and every event she supported at William & Mary. We miss her greatly at the School of Education,” he said.
Traci was also passionate about yoga, receiving her teaching certification from a school in Rishikesh, India, following 30 days of immersed teacher training. As a yoga instructor in the Williamsburg area, Traci taught at least two W&M students through graduation. She was known as a patient, encouraging teacher and friend.
Traci’s joy touched many in the W&M community, and she will be missed. Our deepest sympathies go to her colleagues, friends and family.
Traci is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert William Ayers, and her four children, Alton, Avery, Aubie and Alayna. A memorial service was held on February 22. Notes of condolence may be shared with the family on Traci’s Life Tributes page.
