Interim Chief Operating Officer Jackie Ferree sent the following message to faculty and staff at William & Mary on Feb. 1, 2023. – Ed.
Dear Colleagues,
The Charles and Virginia Duke Award, established in 1997, is awarded annually to honor an exceptional employee of the university, who is neither a student nor an instructional faculty member. The employee may be a full-time or part-time employee of the university or one of the contractors providing auxiliary service to William & Mary. Under the terms of the gift, the award must be given to one person to recognize his or her individual contributions to the university, and the recipient must be an outstanding member of the community. Nominations should reflect the university’s diversified workforce. The Duke Award carries a substantial cash prize, and the recipient will be announced at Commencement and have their name placed on a public plaque.
I encourage you to make nominations so that we may take advantage of Mr. and Mrs. Duke’s generous gift and recognize one of our outstanding employees. An award description and nomination form can be found here. Completed nomination forms will be done through Qualtrics and are due by the close of business on February 28, 2023.
If you have any questions, please contact Pamela Carroll, pwcarroll@wm.edu.
Sincerely,
Jackie Ferree
Interim Chief Operating Officer
