Message sent from W&M Public Safety to the campus community in advance of Winter Storm Gianna, expected to impact the Williamsburg, VA area Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, 2026 – Ed.
Dear William & Mary community:
The National Weather Service is forecasting another winter storm for Williamsburg and the broader Virginia/Peninsula region for this weekend. Public Safety is actively monitoring the system, and Facilities Operations is continuing to treat pathways and prepare the campus. Another message with an update will be sent tomorrow afternoon.
Please note:
- Primary pathways are cleared and treated. Please use these pathways.
- Watch where you are walking and keep your eyes on the path.
- Do not enter any areas that have posted signs or caution tape.
- It is important not to use city roadways as an alternative for sidewalks; only walk where the sidewalks are clear and passable.
- If you see a safety concern on campus, report it to Work Control at 757-221-2270.
Stay safe.

Division of Public Safety
