Tips to Stay Healthy this Fall Semester
The safety of the William & Mary community is always top priority. Therefore, as we enter fall and approach the winter months ahead, community members are urged to practice preventative measures to reduce the risk and spread of respiratory viruses like influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and COVID-19. Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website to learn how you can use the same strategies to protect yourself from all three viruses and help protect others from becoming sick.
The decision to vaccinate is a personal decision and should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional. For many, vaccination remains one of the most effective tools in preventing severe illness and reducing transmission of viruses like influenza and COVID-19. The CDC recommends that everyone aged 6 months and older get a 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine (at least two months after your last dose). Visit Vaccinate Virginia to find local vaccination sites in the Commonwealth.
Every U.S. household may again place an order to receive four more free COVID-19 rapid tests delivered directly to their home. Follow the USPS ordering page to place your online order.
William & Mary is offering four Flu Shot Clinics during the month of October, including one to be held at the VIMS location on October 23, from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Please visit W&M Flu Shots for additional time and location information. A vaccine consent form (pdf) must be completed and presented at the time of your visit.
Be sure to visit the William & Mary COVID-19 website for up-to-date information for students, faculty and staff, as well as guidelines for supervisors.
