Brian Baumgartner, widely known for his role on NBC’s “The Office,” will give William & Mary’s 2024 Atwater Lecture on April 3.
The event, “An Evening with Brian Baumgartner. Everything The Office, Q&A’s and Conversations about the NBC Emmy-Winning Series,” is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Sadler Center’s Commonwealth Auditorium. Entry is free for students, faculty and staff with ID. Seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. A limited number of public tickets will be available for $10 each at the door.
The event is sponsored by Alma Mater Productions with generous support from the Janet and Peter Atwater Lecture Endowment.
Baumgartner played Kevin Malone on “The Office,” which ran for nine years and earned multiple awards including several Emmys. In addition to his role on “The Office,” Baumgartner has appeared on such TV series as “Jake in Progress,” “Arrested Development,”“Everwood,” “Hand of God” and “Good Behavior.” He currently voices a character on the Netflix animated show “Trash Truck.”
Baumgartner also had roles in multiple films, including “License to Wed,” “Four Christmases,” “The Last Push,” “Into Temptation,” “Ghostbusters,” “Geezer,” “My Boyfriend’s Meds,” “Electric Jesus” and “Rumble.”
He started a production company, 3 Bees Entertainment, which is responsible for NBC Sports Specials leading up to The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. In addition, Baumgartner produced and hosted a Spotify podcast, “An Oral History of the Office,” and he currently hosts “The Office Deep Dive” podcast. He has also authored a book about the show, “Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of ‘The Office.’”
In addition to the Emmys he won as part of “The Office,” Baumgartner won two SAG Awards and a Webby Award for “An Oral History of The Office.”
