William & Mary Law School will offer a new Corporate Compliance Certificate Program this spring for mid- to high-level career professionals. The six-week hybrid program provides an advanced understanding of complex compliance issues across industries and businesses of all sizes.
“Our alumni network identified corporate compliance as an area where professionals, both attorneys and non-lawyers, need additional learning,” said A. Benjamin Spencer, dean of the law school. “Our Online and Executive Education team is building a program that will advance participants’ careers.”
Designed specifically for mid- to high-level corporate compliance professionals, the program will prepare them to evaluate and apply compliance frameworks and implement relevant risk management solutions within their organizations.
“We believe that efficient and accountable corporate compliance is a strategic business advantage,” said Amy King, associate dean for online and executive education at the law school. “Our students will learn with top compliance leaders as they review real-world compliance challenges like data privacy, supply chain risk assessment, auditing, and more.”
Enrollees will participate in small-group discussions and peer-to-peer learning, joining in six online synchronous and asynchronous sessions bookended by in-person learning and networking at William & Mary in Williamsburg and a final gathering at the William & Mary Washington Center in Washington, D.C.
“As a compliance professional myself working in the field for over 11 years, I am pleased to help shape the curriculum to ensure it covers a wide breadth of relevant topics and potential scenarios,” Chris Gottfried ’09, program director, said.
The first cohort begins March 9, 2023. Registration for the program, which costs $5,250, is available online.
